In 2003, the editorial Planeta selected  I.Navarro's painting "Garrotazos" to ilustrate the portrait of Garcia de Cortazar's book " Los Mitos de la Historia de España", aN art work dedicated to inspire readers towards a different understanding of the History of Spain and that breachs the conceptual symbols of our history: the Spanish anticlericalism, the exile as a tradition and systematic punishment, the territorial conflicts, Catalonia, the myths of the right and left political movements, the black and romantic image of Spain, that both Artist and Writer express in their works.

In the painting, we can observe a brutal fights between two masked riders wearing traditional clothes and being stood up by two penitents, with a background of clerical penitents as judges mens fight. The artist here shows his own vision the "Deep Spain" the cruelty and brutality of the deep culture of the Sothern provinces, but also the cultural dephs of the church in the society, the societal hatret perpetuated by the inequality and the tradition non as a virtue but as a handicap.
